A summer tradition in Poland is to spend some time in the lakes of Masuria, boating and fishing, far away from all the stresses of modern city living. Meanwhile, in our industry golf is increasingly becoming the pastime of choice. So why not combine the two activities Well, we have done precisely that with our 8th Eurobuild CEE' Golf Tournament For the first time, the tournament was held in the beautiful setting of the Mazury Golf & Country Club in Naterki, in Poland's Masurian lake district. Adding to the picturesque location was the further bonus of the glorious weather on the day of the tournament - Friday, August 28th. As the sun beat down on the players out on the course, non-participants were able to avail themselves of the plentiful refreshments on offer at the clubhouse. And the sun was still blazing at the end of the competition, which was divided into the Shotgun Tournament, for more advanced golfers, and the Academy, for those less familiar with the game. Emerging triumphant from the Shotgun Tournament were Karolina Jaworska, who won the first handicap, followed by Kamil Tatarczuk and Adam Hruboń, in second and third place respectively. First prize in the second handicap went to Christian Schnell of BSJP Brockhuis Schnell Jurczak Prusak legal chambers, with Rafał Zambrycki of the Moderno architectural studio the runner-up and Milo Musee coming third. In the Academy, the prize for the longest drive was awarded to Ewa Osterczuk, while Grzegorz Wiśniewski of Hill International project management company was the winner of the closest to the pin' contest. |
The prizes were awarded by master of ceremonies Tadeusz Drozda, in the elegant lakeside surroundings of the Przystań restaurant in nearby Olsztyn. But this was just the prelude to the most spectacular event of the evening: a breath-taking fireworks display from the other side of the lake, laid on especially for our guests. As chrysanthemums, spiders and crossettes exploded, illuminating both the sky and the lake below in rainbow colours, contestants were already preparing for the last fun and games of the day - a night golf tournament in which the aim was to chip the balls over a stretch of water into a basket. Needless to say, despite the considerable skills of the participants many golf balls are now lying in a watery grave. After more prizes were awarded in the prize draw and the jazz band had played its closing numbers, the beautiful late summer's evening could finally draw to a close. Except for those party animals who went on to sample Olsztyn's nightlife, that is. (NN) |
